The Plateau State Government has imposed a Jos North curfew following a deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos, which left several residents dead and others injured.
The curfew, which took effect from midnight on March 29, will remain in place until April 1 as authorities work to restore calm.
In an official statement, the Commissioner for Information, Joyce Ramnap, described the incident as a “tragic security breach” requiring urgent action.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang condemned the нападение, calling it “barbaric and unprovoked,” while assuring residents that those responsible would be brought to justice.
Eyewitnesses reported that gunmen arrived on motorcycles and opened fire indiscriminately on residents in the Angwan Rukuba axis.
A resident, John Caleb, confirmed casualties:
“So far, six people have been confirmed dead, and several others are receiving treatment.”
Another witness, Janet Pam, described the chaos:
“They were shooting at people returning from church… it was terrifying.”
The attackers reportedly fled before security operatives arrived.
The Jos North curfew was introduced in collaboration with security agencies to prevent further breakdown of law and order.

Some youths reportedly protested after the incident by blocking roads, but were later dispersed by security personnel.
