Atiku Abubakar has vowed to present evidence in court proving President Bola Tinubu is 90 years old

Former Vice President and the 2027 African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has sparked a major political controversy following his latest public broadcast.

In a bold declaration made during a BBC Hausa interview published on Friday, Atiku claims Tinubu is 90 years old and insists he has verifiable proof to back his shocking assertion.

Pushing back against mounting concerns regarding his own advanced age ahead of the 2027 elections, the seasoned politician aggressively challenged the public's perception of leadership fitness.

"I have evidence to present in court to show President Tinubu is 90 years old," Atiku declared confidently, signaling his readiness to escalate the matter legally if his claims are formally challenged.

The weighty assertion came as the former vice president passionately defended his decision to make yet another bid for the country’s highest office.

Addressing critics who argue he is too old to run, Atiku turned the spotlight on the incumbent, drawing a sharp contrast between their physical capabilities.

He questioned why Nigerians would consider his age a disqualifying factor when they previously voted for the current administration. Pointing out the alleged differences in their health and vitality, he stated, "You have a President who is 90 years old now and sick, and I am healthy and strong.

So why won't I make myself available to serve my country?" As Atiku claims Tinubu is 90 years old, he repeatedly emphasized that his extensive political history, his staunch opposition to past military rule, and his constitutional rights fuel his persistence to lead Nigeria.

Beyond the fiery debate over age and physical fitness, Atiku used the interview to heavily criticize the current administration's handling of national affairs, specifically focusing on the nation's worsening security challenges.

The ADC candidate blamed the mounting insecurity on what he described as government irresponsibility in the critical areas of defense and policing. Pitching himself as a highly competent alternative, Atiku promised that, if elected, his administration would prioritize tackling these pressing issues and drastically improve the country's security situation within just one year of taking office.

While his explosive allegation regarding the President's real age continues to dominate political headlines, it remains to be seen whether the concrete evidence he claims to possess will ever actually be presented before a judge.
