The announcement, which coincided with his 74th birthday, highlights what the president described as a personal commitment to honour the sacrifices of military personnel.
According to Tinubu, the fund will be created under the supervision of the Accountant-General of the Federation to provide direct support for:
Injured military personnel
Families of fallen heroes
Widows, widowers, and children of deceased soldiers.
“I have directed the establishment of a special account for those who serve and their families,” Tinubu said.
The president confirmed that all his salaries since taking office will serve as the initial funding for the initiative.
“All my salaries since assuming office will be paid into this account as seed funding,” he stated.
