Popular pastor Rev. Kesiena has sparked debate after criticizing Christians over their voting choices, linking Nigeria’s leadership challenges to insecurity, economic hardship, and what he described as a failure to prioritize integrity during elections.

The cleric made the remarks while expressing concern over the continued captivity of abducted schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.

Speaking on the continued abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State, the cleric expressed concern that dozens of victims, including young children, remain in captivity while national attention appears focused elsewhere.

Rev. Kesiena questioned the priorities of political and religious leaders, arguing that more urgency should be directed toward addressing the plight of kidnapped victims and the worsening security situation across the country.

The pastor also reflected on the economic difficulties facing many Nigerians, sharing personal observations about the rising cost of living and the financial pressures experienced by citizens.

According to him, leadership decisions have a direct impact on the daily realities faced by ordinary Nigerians, making it important for voters to carefully assess the character, competence, and track record of political candidates before elections.

Rev. Kesiena further criticized what he described as a culture of political loyalty that sometimes overshadows accountability and integrity.

He urged Christians to align their voting decisions with their values and to prioritize good governance over personal, ethnic, or religious affiliations.
