The AMVCA 2026 winners were unveiled on Saturday night during the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards held at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.
The glamorous event brought together top actors, filmmakers, producers, and digital creators from across Africa to celebrate excellence in entertainment and storytelling.
One of the biggest highlights of the night was the dominance of “My Father’s Shadow,” which won several major categories including Best Movie, Best Director, Best Writing – Movie, and Best Sound Design.
The film emerged as one of the most celebrated productions at the AMVCA 2026. In the acting categories, Uzor Arukwe won Best Lead Actor for his performance in “Colours of Fire,” while Linda Ejiofor secured the Best Lead Actress award for “The Serpent’s Gift.”
Bucci Franklin also received recognition as Best Supporting Actor for “To Kill a Monkey.” The AMVCA 2026 winners list also featured major victories for productions such as “Lisabi: A Legend Is Born,” “To Kill a Monkey,” and “Colours of Fire,” which earned praise for cinematography, costume design, and indigenous storytelling.
Veteran Nollywood stars Sola Sobowale and Kanayo O. Kanayo were honoured with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award for their contributions to the African film industry.
Actress Uche Montana also received the Trailblazer Award for her rising impact in entertainment.

The ceremony, broadcast live on Africa Magic channels and streaming platforms, once again showcased the growing influence of African cinema on the global stage.
Fans and industry stakeholders described the AMVCA 2026 as one of the most competitive and memorable editions in recent years. Among the biggest AMVCA 2026 winners, “My Father’s Shadow” stood out as the film of the night after clinching the highly coveted Best Movie award alongside several technical and creative categories.
The success of the movie further reinforced the quality and international appeal of African storytelling. The event also recognised digital creators, television productions, indigenous language films, and reality shows, highlighting the diversity and evolution of African entertainment across different platforms.
