The Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Zacch Adedeji, has dismissed claims that President Bola Tinubu leads an extravagant lifestyle, asserting that the nation's leader routinely walks to his office and eats only once a day.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Adedeji addressed growing public scrutiny surrounding government expenditure and the lifestyle of public officials amidst national economic difficulties.
The revenue chief maintained that President Tinubu’s daily routine is characterized by intense work demands rather than luxury or social festivities.
“Mr President goes from home to office on foot, not even driving except when he is going to the airport. I don’t know where you see the convoy. Before he became president, what is he riding?” Adedeji remarked.
Responding to questions regarding the presence of luxury vehicles, including Cadillac Escalades, attached to executive transportation details, Adedeji argued that having access to appropriate official vehicles is normal for the President of Nigeria. He urged critics not to mischaracterize standard presidential operational tools as personal extravagance.
Highlighting the President's schedule, Adedeji noted that Tinubu has focused entirely on official responsibilities, remaining within the country for consecutive months to review policy documents and oversee governance.
