Ukrainian Drone Strike on Tatarstan Kills 13 in Nizhnekamsk Oil Hub

At least 13 people, including a child, have been killed and 75 others injured following a massive Ukrainian drone strike on Tatarstan, marking one of the deadliest long-range attacks inside Russian territory since the outbreak of the war.

The overnight attack targeted the industrial city of Nizhnekamsk, located more than 1,100 kilometers (680 miles) from the Ukrainian border. 

Ukraine's Armed Forces and defense technology firm FirePoint confirmed that FP-1 long-range drones successfully struck the Taneco oil refinery, starting fires that burned for several hours across the complex.

The head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, confirmed the casualties and declared an official period of mourning across the region, while Nizhnekamsk Mayor Radmir Belayev described the loss of life as a tremendous tragedy for the community. 

Russian authorities reported that residential areas were affected alongside industrial infrastructure, though Ukrainian officials maintained that deep-strike operations exclusively target facilities funding and supplying Russia's war effort.

The strike reflects Kyiv's intensified campaign against Russian energy infrastructure and military logistics hubs. 

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, air defense systems intercepted over 450 Ukrainian drones nationwide during the same overnight period, amid ongoing exchange bombardments across both nations.
