A high-profile consortium featuring billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has entered advanced negotiations to acquire approximately a 30 percent minority stake in Liverpool Football Club, according to reports.
The investment group is spearheaded by British-Indian businessman Amit Bhatia, the son-in-law of steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal and former co-owner of Queens Park Rangers, alongside Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin.
Liverpool's primary owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), previously acknowledged that the group had expressed formal interest in making a strategic minority investment in the Premier League club.
Bezos, 62, currently ranks as the world's fourth-richest individual with an estimated net worth of $256 billion (£192 billion).
