In Philadelphia, five-time world champions Brazil secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Haiti in a Group C encounter, officially ending the Caribbean nation's hopes of reaching the knockout stage.
Brazil opened the scoring through Matheus Cunha, who tapped home from close range after Vinicius Junior's effort was parried by the goalkeeper.
Cunha later doubled Brazil's advantage with a powerful finish from inside the penalty area before Vinicius Junior added a third goal deep into first-half stoppage time.
The victory lifted Brazil to the top of Group C on goal difference, while Haiti remained bottom of the standings with zero points from two matches and a goal difference of minus four.
Although Haiti still have one group game remaining against Morocco on June 24, the result will have no impact on their qualification hopes after their elimination was confirmed.
Meanwhile, in Group D, Türkiye also exited the tournament after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Paraguay at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium. Paraguay took the lead almost immediately through Matias Galarza, whose strike after just 64 seconds became the fastest goal scored at the 2026 FIFA World Cup so far.
Despite dominating periods of the game and enjoying a numerical advantage after a Paraguayan player was sent off in stoppage time, Türkiye failed to find an equaliser.
The defeat leaves the Turkish side without a point after two matches, confirming their exit from the competition before their final group fixture. For Paraguay, the victory keeps their qualification hopes alive heading into a decisive final group match against Australia.
The tournament exits mark contrasting stories for the two nations. Haiti returned to the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1974 and hoped to make an impact on the global stage, while Türkiye arrived with high expectations but were unable to translate their potential into results.
With their eliminations confirmed, both teams will now look to end their campaigns on a positive note in their final group-stage matches.
