Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwo, widely revered as one of Nigeria’s most respected screen icons, has shared candid and thought-provoking advice for wealthy parents, urging them not to eliminate struggle from their children’s lives in the name of sparing them from hardship. 

According to her, “The fastest way to ruin a child’s life is to say you don’t want them to suffer the way you did. I’m not saying you should allow them suffer. What I’m saying is, allow them to struggle. Go through the process.

Imagine you have like 20 houses, one in Enugu, Abuja, and Lagos. Your children will now be struggling, ‘Which one belongs to me?’ They don’t know how you struggled to get those things.

But when you keep the things that you have and let them know that they have to get theirs. This is mine. That’s why you see some rich people selling their things while they’re still alive.

Maybe keep a few for the children, sell out a lot, enjoy themselves, and then give out to those who really needed it.

If you don’t do it, your children will grow up to enjoy life like it should be that way. Let your children know the pains of life.
