According to reports, the incident occurred on June 18, prompting law enforcement authorities to begin efforts to determine the exact circumstances surrounding her death.
Police sources confirmed that a note believed to have been written by the deceased was recovered at the scene.
The note reportedly contained references to emotional distress linked to a failed relationship and other personal experiences.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, stated that investigations are ongoing and urged the public to avoid speculation while authorities work to establish all the facts surrounding the case.
The police commissioner noted that the tragic incident highlights the importance of emotional support, mentorship, and guidance for young people facing difficult life challenges.
He called on parents and guardians to pay closer attention to the emotional well-being of their children and wards, stressing the need to identify signs of distress and provide timely support when necessary.
Orutugu also encouraged educational institutions, religious organisations, community leaders, and civil society groups to strengthen programmes that promote resilience, positive values, and healthy coping mechanisms among young people.
To ensure a comprehensive investigation, the Commissioner ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka.
