EFCC Set to Probe VeryDarkMan and Deji Adeyanju Over Funding Allegations

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is reportedly preparing to investigate activist-lawyer Deji Adeyanju and social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, over allegations relating to funding sources and potential national security concerns.

The development follows a petition submitted by legal practitioner Blessing Agbomhere, who called on the anti-graft agency to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the financial activities, sponsorship arrangements, and sources of funding linked to the two public figures.

According to reports, the petition raised concerns regarding the funding of advocacy campaigns and protest activities associated with the duo.

It requested that the EFCC examine whether any unlawful financial transactions or activities may be connected to their operations.

Reacting to the reports, VeryDarkMan took to social media to reject the allegations and questioned the motives behind the petition.

The social media activist claimed that the move was aimed at silencing voices critical of government policies and governance issues.

He argued that public support for advocacy campaigns and protests should not automatically be interpreted as evidence of external sponsorship or unlawful funding.

VeryDarkMan further alleged that the petition was politically motivated and linked it to reactions surrounding recent protests and campaigns calling for reforms and improved governance.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the EFCC nor Deji Adeyanju had released an official statement detailing the scope of any planned investigation.

Observers note that any official findings from the EFCC investigation will likely attract widespread public attention given the prominence of the individuals involved.

The situation remains developing, and further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
