Meta Platforms has started rolling out paid subscription plans across its major social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, as the tech giant looks to expand revenue sources beyond digital advertising.

Meta Platforms has officially begun the global rollout of new paid subscription services across its popular social media and messaging platforms.

The company announced on Wednesday that the new “Plus” subscription plans will be available on Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp.

According to Meta, the move is part of the company’s broader strategy to diversify its income sources beyond traditional digital advertising revenue.

Under the newly introduced subscription structure, users can choose between Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus, or WhatsApp Plus packages, with monthly subscription fees ranging from $2.99 to $3.99 depending on the platform selected.

Features Included in Meta Plus Subscription Plans

The company revealed that subscribers would gain access to several exclusive features designed to improve user experience across its platforms.

Some of the premium features include:

• Profile customization tools

• Super reactions for interactions

• Advanced story insights

• Additional personalization options

• Enhanced engagement features

Meta said the subscription plans are targeted mainly at consumers looking for more advanced social media experiences and extra platform functionality.

Meta Expands Beyond Advertising Revenue Meta Platforms has continued exploring new business models in recent years as competition in the technology industry increases and advertising markets become more unpredictable.

The rollout of the Plus subscription plans reflects a growing trend among major tech companies introducing premium membership services for users willing to pay for enhanced features and exclusive tools.

The company has not yet confirmed whether more premium tools or creator-focused features will be added to the subscription plans in future updates.

Industry analysts believe the move could help Meta strengthen user engagement while creating a more stable stream of recurring revenue across its platforms.
