Kemi Olunloyo on the release of Oyo abductees has generated widespread reactions after the media personality questioned the official account of how the pupils and teachers kidnapped in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State regained their freedom.

Olunloyo made the remarks in a post shared on her X account, where she disputed reports that security agencies rescued the victims.

Without providing evidence, she alleged that the abducted pupils and teachers were simply returned after being taken to northern Nigeria.

“There was no rescue. They simply brought back those kids from the north the same way they took them,” she wrote.

She also claimed, without presenting supporting evidence, that pressure from the United Nations and an investigation allegedly linked to United States President Donald Trump contributed to the victims’ release.

In another allegation, Olunloyo stated that the Presidency had instructed the released victims and their families not to grant interviews to bloggers, journalists or podcasters.

“What are they hiding?” she asked.

The media personality further alleged that the victims were moved to northern Nigeria before being released, insisting that attempts to present a different narrative would not succeed.

However, Kemi Olunloyo’s claims about the release of the Oyo abductees have not been substantiated with evidence.

As of the time of filing this report, Nigerian authorities have not publicly responded to the allegations.

Earlier, the Presidency, through the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced that all the abducted pupils and teachers had regained their freedom following the efforts of Nigerian security agencies.

No official details have yet been released regarding the circumstances surrounding their freedom, including whether any ransom was paid or how the operation was carried out.

The abduction occurred on May 15, 2026, when armed men attacked three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, kidnapping 39 pupils and seven teachers while killing two teachers during the incident.
