Nigerian cleric David Ibiyeomie has advised Nigerians to carefully choose leaders with vision ahead of future elections, stressing that repeated political mistakes could further damage the country’s economy.
Speaking during a sermon, the pastor lamented the rising cost of living and the depreciation of the Nigerian currency over the years.
According to him, the naira has experienced significant decline, warning that the situation could become worse if citizens continue supporting politicians without clear plans for national development.
David Ibiyeomie also criticised politicians who frequently switch political parties whenever they fail to secure appointments or political advantages.
He argued that many politicians move from one party to another based on personal interest rather than genuine commitment to national progress.
The cleric urged Nigerians not to allow money or temporary benefits to influence their voting decisions during elections.
Referencing the biblical story of Esau, he warned against exchanging long-term national progress for short-term financial inducements during election periods.
According to him, leaders with genuine vision can improve the lives of citizens more effectively than politicians who only share money during campaigns.
The pastor maintained that he was not campaigning for any political party but simply encouraging Nigerians to seek divine guidance and vote responsibly.
He added that at his age, financial incentives could not influence his political decisions, insisting that the future of the country depends on electing competent and visionary leaders.
