In a widely circulated statement, Olunloyo claimed that some of the expensive gifts sent to Nigerian content creators during live sessions may be linked to fraudulent activities.
She specifically referenced popular streamer Peller, alongside other influencers, questioning the origin of high-value gifts such as “lions” and other premium digital items.
According to her, while TikTok gifting is a legitimate feature that allows fans to support creators, there are concerns about whether all transactions come from genuine sources.
She alleged that some individuals behind these gifts could be using illicit financial methods, though no verified evidence has been publicly provided to support these claims.
Olunloyo further suggested that the large sums reportedly earned during livestreams may involve undisclosed arrangements between streamers and third parties. Her remarks also referenced possible international scrutiny, though there has been no official confirmation from authorities such as the FBI regarding any investigation into Nigerian TikTok creators.
The allegations have since generated mixed reactions across social media. While some users called for greater transparency in the digital gifting system, others criticised the claims as speculative and unproven.
TikTok’s gifting system allows viewers to purchase virtual items using real money and send them to creators during live broadcasts. These gifts are later converted into earnings for the streamer, making it a major revenue source for many influencers globally.
As of now, neither Peller nor other creators mentioned have issued any formal response to the allegations. Industry observers note that without concrete evidence or official investigations, such claims remain unverified.
