The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has confirmed that the PDP convention 2026 will proceed as scheduled, despite ongoing internal disagreements within the party.
Speaking ahead of the event, Wike assured that efforts to reconcile aggrieved members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) would continue even after the convention.
The PDP convention 2026 is set for March 29 and 30 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
Wike dismissed concerns surrounding a legal challenge reportedly filed by a group linked to Tanimu Turaki, stating that it would not affect the convention.
“The convention will go ahead as planned,” he said.
Addressing party unity, Wike emphasized that reconciliation is a continuous process within any political organization.
“There is room for accommodation. The PDP is a very large party… we will sit down with aggrieved members and address their concerns,” he stated.
He noted that disagreements are inevitable in a party with millions of members but stressed that the overall interest of the party remains paramount.
