The UK government has confirmed that the red list for international travel will be phased out starting at 4 a.m. on Wednesday, December 15.

Sajid Javid, the Secretary of State for Health, revealed the decision in the House of Commons on Tuesday.

He told the legislators that starting at 04:00 GMT on Wednesday, England will remove all 11 countries from the red lists.

The Travel Red List for Countries, according to the Health Secretary, is no longer effective in preventing the spread of new variations.

"So, while we'll keep our temporary testing methods in place for foreign travel, we'll be removing all 11 nations from the travel red list as of 4 a.m. tomorrow," he stated.

Currently on the list are Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
