The governor conveyed his condolences during the funeral service held for the actor in Arochukwu, Abia State.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Otti said Alex Ekubo was more than an entertainer, noting that he served as a cultural ambassador who projected the image of Abia State and Nigeria to audiences across Africa and beyond.
According to the governor, Alex Ekubo remained proud of his roots and inspired many young people through his dedication, discipline, and successful career in the film industry.
He noted that the actor’s journey from Arochukwu to becoming one of Nollywood’s most recognised faces demonstrated that determination and hard work can help anyone achieve their dreams regardless of their background.
Otti further stated that Alex Ekubo possessed a unique ability to connect with people through his performances, bringing joy to countless fans while motivating aspiring actors and creatives.
The governor urged the widow, family members, friends, and colleagues of the late actor to remain strong during this difficult period and find comfort in God.
The funeral attracted actors, actresses, and other members of the entertainment industry who gathered to pay their final respects to Alex Ekubo, whose contributions to Nollywood earned him admiration across Nigeria and beyond.
