The deceased, Sara Araba Tettey, was a newly qualified legal practitioner and alumna of the Faculty of Law at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
She was reportedly called to the Ghana Bar earlier this year and was working with O & A Legal Consult. According to local reports, Tettey was watching the match alongside friends at Standard Hostel in Bomso, near the KNUST campus in Kumasi, when she suddenly collapsed moments after celebrations erupted following Ghana’s victory.
Eyewitnesses said she became unresponsive during the jubilant scenes that followed the final whistle, prompting friends and other spectators to immediately rush her to KNUST Hospital for emergency treatment.
Medical personnel reportedly carried out intensive resuscitation efforts, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), for approximately 45 minutes in an attempt to revive her.
Despite the prolonged medical intervention, doctors were unable to save her life, and she was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
The news has sent shockwaves through the legal community, with colleagues, friends, and former classmates mourning the loss of a young professional described as intelligent, hardworking, compassionate, and full of potential.
The death of Sara Araba Tettey has sparked widespread reactions across social media, with many expressing sadness that a moment of national joy ended in personal tragedy for her family and loved ones.
