The announcement was made by the state Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, through an official press release issued on Saturday.
According to the statement, Governor Alex Otti has approved the directive, which is scheduled to take effect from June 22, 2026.
The government explained that the decision forms part of broader efforts to strengthen security, improve public safety, enhance traffic management and create a more organized transportation system across major urban centres in the state.
Authorities noted that commercial motorcycle operators are expected to cease operations within the affected metropolitan areas before the commencement date of the ban.
To ensure full compliance, security agencies and relevant enforcement bodies have been directed to enforce the order across the designated locations.
The government also warned that anyone found violating the directive will face legal consequences.
Motorcycles used in contravention of the order will be confiscated in accordance with existing laws and regulations.
