Trump explained that his phone’s autocorrect feature repeatedly altered the name of his wife, Melania Trump, to “Melody” while composing messages. According to him, the issue occurred while drafting posts intended to praise the former First Lady, including messages celebrating occasions like Mother’s Day.
“They have spell correct and word correct, and these crazy machines that we use to put out Truths,” Trump said. “Every time I wrote ‘Melania,’ it would correct to ‘Melody.’” He added that in some instances, he failed to proofread the messages before posting, which led to unintended errors and public reactions.
“I’d say ‘Melania is fantastic’ or ‘happy Mother’s Day Melania,’ but it would spell correct to ‘Melody,’” he explained, noting that the mistakes sometimes led to backlash online.
