Arsenal strengthened their Premier League title hopes with a dramatic 1-0 victory over West Ham United in a tense London derby. The hard-fought win restored Arsenal’s five-point lead at the top of the table as Mikel Arteta’s side continued their push for a first league title in 22 years.

Arsenal kept their Premier League title dreams alive after securing a dramatic 1-0 victory over West Ham United in a fiercely contested London derby.

The Gunners entered the clash determined to maintain control of the title race and nearly found an early breakthrough through Leandro Trossard, whose header was brilliantly tipped away before another effort struck the post.

Arsenal continued to dominate possession in the opening stages, forcing West Ham’s defence into several desperate clearances. However, Mikel Arteta’s side suffered a setback when Ben White was forced off with an injury following a challenge involving Crysencio Summerville.

The tactical reshuffle briefly disrupted Arsenal’s rhythm and allowed West Ham to grow into the contest.

The home side created promising opportunities before halftime, with David Raya producing an impressive save to deny Taty Castellanos after a dangerous attacking move led by Aaron Wan-Bissaka. West Ham looked increasingly dangerous as the match became more physical and scrappy.

In the second half, West Ham United pushed harder in search of a crucial goal in their battle against relegation. Mateus Fernandes came close to giving the hosts the lead, but Raya once again delivered with a stunning point-blank save to keep Arsenal level.

That save proved decisive as Leandro Trossard eventually broke the deadlock with a deflected close-range finish from Martin Odegaard’s cut-back.

The goal was Trossard’s first of the calendar year and handed Arsenal a massive advantage in the title race. Late drama followed when Callum Wilson appeared to rescue a point for West Ham with a stoppage-time finish, but the goal was ruled out after a foul on Raya during the buildup.

The victory moves Arsenal five points clear at the top of the Premier League table and keeps alive their hopes of winning both the league and the UEFA Champions League this season.

For West Ham United, the defeat deepens their relegation fears as they remain dangerously close to the drop zone with the season nearing its conclusion.
