DIETICIAN USED CHATGPT INTERVIEW
A UK-based tribunal has struck off a Nigerian dietician, Aiwanehi Aigbokhaevbo, after finding that she used AI tools during a remote NHS job interview.
The case has sparked conversations around ethics and the use of AI in professional recruitment processes.
According to reports, Aigbokhaevbo was interviewed via Microsoft Teams for a role at Royal Surrey County Hospital while she was in Nigeria.
The panel reportedly observed unusual behaviour during the session, including:
Repeatedly asking interviewers to restate questions, Delivering highly detailed, “textbook-style” answers, Using advanced medical terminology beyond expected level.
The dietician used ChatGPT interview case gained attention due to the suspected use of AI in real-time.
Interviewers noted that her eyes frequently moved side to side, suggesting she was reading from a screen.
They concluded she may have been inputting questions into AI tools like ChatGPT to generate answers during the interview.
She was later asked to complete a 45-minute case study, which was also flagged for being unusually perfect and overly detailed.
The case was reviewed by the Health and Care Professions Tribunal Service, which found inconsistencies in her defense.
Although Aigbokhaevbo denied using AI, the panel ruled that:
She had likely used AI during both the interview and case study, Her conduct undermined the integrity of the hiring process, There was a risk of repeated behaviour.
“Her actions could have jeopardised patient care,” the panel stated.
Following the findings, the tribunal ruled that her fitness to practise was impaired and ordered her removal from the UK dietician register.
An interim suspension of 18 months has been imposed, during which she may appeal the decision.
The dietician used ChatGPT interview case highlights increasing concerns about the misuse of artificial intelligence in high-stakes environments like healthcare recruitment.
Experts say while AI can be a helpful tool, misuse in professional assessments raises ethical and safety concerns.
