The move includes the appointment of Dr. Ezinne Chinyere Benjamin-Kalu, wife of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, as Chairman of the Management Board of the Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH).
According to the state government, the restructuring of the board is aimed at:

Governor Alex Otti urged the newly appointed members to:

The appointments take immediate effect, according to a statement signed by Dr. Emmanuel Meribole, Secretary to the State Government.
