Chelsea FC have officially announced the departure of manager Liam Rosenior, ending his short-lived tenure at Stamford Bridge after just four months.
The Englishman was appointed in January 2026 following the exit of Enzo Maresca, signing a long-term contract expected to rebuild the club.
Rosenior’s time began on a high note:
Won 6 of his first 7 matches,
Impressed in the UEFA Champions League group phase,
Secured qualification for the knockout rounds.
However, things quickly deteriorated.
Heavy Defeat and Poor Form. Chelsea’s season took a major hit after a humiliating exit from Europe:
Lost 8-2 on aggregate to Paris Saint-Germain
Suffered five consecutive Premier League defeats, Conceded 11 goals without scoring
Dropped to 7th position in the league table
Club Statement
Chelsea confirmed the decision in an official statement:
“This has not been a decision the Club has taken lightly… however recent results and performances have fallen below the necessary standards.”
The club also thanked Rosenior for his professionalism and wished him success in the future.
Rosenior’s Reaction Before Exit
Following a 3-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion, Rosenior expressed frustration:
Described the performance as “unacceptable”, Criticized lack of desire, spirit, and courage And Admitted responsibility for poor results
Despite their struggles, Chelsea FC still have a chance at silverware:
FA Cup semi-final clash against Leeds United
Match scheduled for April 26, 2026.
