President Bola Tinubu has given his endorsement for the appointment of Hakeem Odumosu, a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), as the confirmed Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

It should be noted that President Tinubu had previously placed an indefinite suspension on the former head of the anti-corruption agency on June 14th.

The presidency has issued a statement announcing the suspension of Mr. Bawa, the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The suspension aims to facilitate a thorough investigation into allegations of misconduct during his tenure.

As a result, Mr. Bawa has been instructed to hand over his responsibilities to the Director of Operations within the commission.

This individual will temporarily oversee the Chairman's duties until the investigation concludes.

Subsequently, Mr. Bawa was summoned by the Department of State Services for questioning regarding accusations of corruption and misuse of authority.

It is worth noting that Mr. Bawa's suspension occurred shortly after President Tinubu suspended Mr. Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of the Central Bank, from his position.
