The Nigeria Police Force has issued a strong public response to recent statements made by popular social critic Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VDM.

In an official statement, the Police challenge VeryDarkMan over kidnapping claims after he alleged that officers stationed at highway checkpoints actively collude with kidnappers by monitoring wealthy motorists and leaking their movements for ransom.

The highly controversial accusations were made during his recent appearance as a panelist at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Reacting formally to these weighty allegations on August 27, Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, completely dismissed the claims as unsubstantiated and highly damaging to the institution's image.

He reiterated that highway patrol personnel are strictly deployed to prevent crime, detect illegal activities, and protect law-abiding citizens traveling across the country.

Addressing the severity of the situation, the Police challenge VeryDarkMan over kidnapping claims by urging him to promptly produce verifiable proof rather than making blanket accusations that demoralize frontline officers who routinely risk their lives to confront the exact criminal elements he mentioned.

CSP Iniedu firmly argued that police officers deserve better than public defamation, noting that many personnel have been ambushed, attacked, and even killed by the terrorists and violent criminals they are accused of aiding.

He issued a direct and urgent invitation to the social critic to submit any evidence showing that checkpoint officers identify wealthy individuals and transmit this sensitive information to abductors.

As the Police challenge VeryDarkMan over kidnapping claims, authorities are encouraging any member of the public possessing credible evidence of officer misconduct to report it strictly through official law enforcement channels for a thorough investigation, rather than relying solely on social media allegations.
