Roman Abramovich, the owner of Chelsea, has been formally sanctioned by the UK government, meaning he is now unable to sell the club.
All UK assets have been frozen, and the club's sale has been put on hold. There will be no merchandising or ticket sales.
This move comes on the heels of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February.
"New contracts, player transfers, or item sales for Chelsea have been barred," according to the statement.
Abramovich has had "his assets frozen, a prohibition on transactions with UK individuals and businesses, a travel ban and transport sanctions" imposed on him.
Chelsea could also lose Azpilicueta, Rudiger and Christensen this summer if they're unable to renew player contracts.
