Joseph Egbunike, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department, has died.
According to reports, he reportedly slumped and died in his office in Abuja at the late hours of Tuesday, March 8,
Late DIG Egbunike, is a native of Onitsha in Anambra State, and was the country's most senior police official until his death.
He also led the Special Investigation Panel set up by the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, to look into the suspension of Abba Kyari, the chief of the Police Intelligence Response Team, after the Department of Justice indicted him in a money laundering case.
In Police Mortgage Bank Plc, the late DIG represented the Nigeria Police Force finances and budget.
He was also a member of the Nigeria Police Force Property Development and Construction Company Ltd's board of directors.
