A proposed law in the French Parliament's lower chamber has been passed, making school bullying a crime punishable by up to three years in prison.
In addition, depending on the severity of the case and the age of the perpetrator, the bill would levy fines of up to €45,000 (nearly $50,000) for bullying.
The lower house approved the draft, which will now be sent to the Senate for approval, with the law expected to be passed in February.
