Usman Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, has submitted to the Police Service Commission the findings of the investigative panel on the suspended Head of the Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari.
This comes over six months after the SIP led by DIG. The report was submitted to the IG by Joseph Egbunike.
Austin Braimoh, a commissioner on the PSC, confirmed to our correspondent on Sunday that the panel would hold a hearing on the matter this week.
He stated that the PSC Standing Committee on Discipline was still reviewing the report and that it would be submitted to the PSC plenary later.
"The standing committee is still reviewing the report, and they will take it to the plenary for action," he stated over the phone.
Kyari was questioned, and his response was handed to the Force Disciplinary Committee, according to our source.
Kyari was being probed for his suspected involvement in a $1.1 million online scam perpetrated by an Instagram influencer, Abbas Ramon, nicknamed Hushpuppi, and four others.
The investigation came after his indictment by the US Federal Bureau of Investigations, which suggested that he be extradited to the US for trial.
Andrew Innocenti, a Special Agent with the FBI, claimed that Hushpuppi hired Kyari after a "co-conspirator," Chibuzo Vincent, reportedly threatened to expose the alleged $1.1 million fraud against a Qatari businessman.
