Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi has stated that he has no plans to rejoin the opposition PDP.
Umahi was presumably replying to a claim made by Dr Isaac Nkolez, a PDP chieftain, that the Governor was intending to rejoin the party.
The Governor, speaking during the opening of the new government house chapel in Abakaliki's Ochoudo centenary city, said people spreading the rumor ought to be flogged 30 times.
Recall that, Last year, Umahi switched from the PDP to the APC, blaming the Party's marginalization of the South-East area.
According to him, "Why would someone open their foul-smelling mouth and say this, me, with all my accomplishments, you stated you wanted to return to Egypt?
"When he can't even find a route to get to his compound, that man is supposed to be flogged 30 times, and he's telling me that I want to return to PDP. Let him bring all of his party's governors, and we'll have a debate.
"And to the opposition parties, thank you very much for keeping us in check," he added, "but the kind of opposition in Ebonyi state is bitterness, and it is not opposition." He urged the opposition to be constructive.
On President Buhari's visit to Ebonyi State
Umahi said, no party or individual can prevent him from doing so. No group or individual can prevent the President from visiting Ebonyi whenever he wishes. "So, Mr. President, when we want him to come, he'll come," he remarked.
