The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Akali, has been ordered by the House of Representatives to take over the investigation into the death of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr a secondary school student in Lagos.
The House also requested an investigation from its Committees on Education, Youth Development, Women's Issues, and Social Development and Safety. After an alleged assault by some of the school's students, Sylvester Oromoni Jnr. passed away.
As a result of the incident, the Lagos State Government ordered the School to be closed indefinitely while the inquiry is underway.
Turning those schools into a cult medium is a huge embarrassment." Mr. Uyime, who proposed the motion, stated that in the aftermath of Master Oromoni's death, Nigerians have expressed their "painful experiences" at boarding schools through social media platforms.
Regulators must exercise sufficient oversight, do the right thing, and spare Nigeria from this humiliation.
