The death of Sylvester Oromoni of Dowen College, Lekki, was termed as "disturbing and painful" by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday.
In addition, the governor stated that he has ordered a thorough investigation into the situation.
Three students are currently being held in police custody for alleged assault, while the other two are on the loose.
But, while that's going on, I'd like to assure Sylvester's parents, as well as the entire Lagos community, of my complete support at this difficult time," Sanwo-Olu said in a Facebook post.
"As a father, I understand the anguish that Sylvester's death has caused his parents and the rest of the family. Not only is the situation sad, but it is also upsetting and devastating.
"I understand their anguish and sense of loss. Words fail me to express my emotions, but I trust that God Almighty may ease their suffering and grant Sylvester Jnr eternal peace."
