The The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Lucky Igbinedion, a former governor of Edo State, for alleged criminal diversion of N1.6 billion in public funds.
According to sources, the ex-governor was questioned by detectives at the EFCC headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.
According to reports, the former governor arrived at the commission's headquarters around 2 p.m. yesterday and was still being interrogated at the time of filing this report.
In 2008, he was found guilty of embezzling N2.9 billion from the state. In exchange for his guilty plea, the judge ordered the forfeiture of N500 million and the seizure of three properties, one of which was in Abuja.
