A suit filed on behalf of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, against the Federal Government for infringement of human rights has been adjourned by a Federal High Court in Abia State.

Aloy Ejimakor, a member of Kanu's legal team, revealed this in an interview with Newsmen on Tuesday.

Kanu had filed a lawsuit against the Nigerian government and the Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF Abubakar Malami, SAN, through his lawyers.

The suit concerns the IPOB leader's extradition, alleged mistreatment by security operatives, and subsequent release.

The case was set for hearing on November 2, 2021, by the court. The case, according to Ejimakor, has been postponed until a later date.

"Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s human rights suit which was slated for November 2, 2021, has been adjourned to November 19, 2021, by the Federal High Court in Abia.

"We are saddened by this development which primarily seeks the unconditional release of Kanu from his illegal detentions."

Meanwhile, Kanu is relaxing in the custody of the Department of State Services while awaiting trial by the Nigerian government.
