Salah, 28, is part of the Egyptian squad for this month's 2021 CAF African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Togo but now appears unlikely to feature after testing positive for COVID-19 following a mandatory swab test.
"The medical swab conducted on the members of our first national football team showed that our international player, Mohamed Salah, the star of Liverpool, was infected with the coronavirus after his test came positive." the EFA announced on Friday.
Salah is currently asymptomatic and will self-isolate in line with CAF's COVID-19 protocol, while the remainder of the team will be allowed to take part in Saturday's match after returning negative results.
The announcement comes just days after Salah attended his brother's wedding, while he was also recently present at a ceremony where he was honoured with the 'Inspirer Award' for his recent achievements at club level with the Reds.
