United Kingdom Prime Minister Andy Burnham is grieving the loss of his father, Kenneth Roy Burnham, who passed away at the age of 86 following a prolonged battle with Alzheimer’s disease. 

Following the news of the Roy Burnham death, the Prime Minister cleared his official diary and canceled scheduled public engagements across Monday and Tuesday, including a planned address at the Trades Union Congress (TUC) conference in Brighton as well as high-level meetings with business leaders at 10 Downing Street. 

Burnham had previously spoken candidly about the emotional toll of his father's declining health, noting with poignant sadness that his father's advanced dementia meant he was tragically unaware that his son had risen to become Britain's prime minister.
