Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party has taken an early lead in the Osun State governorship election, winning 19 of the state’s 30 Local Government Areas, while his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured 11 LGAs.

The results were announced during the ongoing collation of results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the state collation centre in Osogbo.

The election was held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, with 15 political parties participating.

However, the major contest was largely between Adeleke and Oyebamiji, while African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate Najeem Salaam emerged a distant third with 14,989 votes according to the results provided.

Adeleke leads in 19 LGAs

Adeleke secured victories in several of the state’s major LGAs, including Ede North, Ede South, Osogbo, Ife East, Ife Central, Iwo, Ifelodun, Oriade and Egbedore.

Oyebamiji, meanwhile, won 11 LGAs, including Ilesa East, Boripe, Irepodun, Obokun, Atakumosa West, Irewole, Atakumosa East, Isokan, Olaoluwa, Ife South and Olorunda.

The result gives Adeleke a clear advantage in the number of LGAs won, although the final outcome depends on the official declaration by the INEC Returning Officer.

INEC’s collation was still underway as of Sunday morning, with reports confirming that results from all 30 LGAs were being collated at the state level.

The electoral commission had also uploaded the majority of polling-unit results to its Result Viewing Portal, with the process nearing completion.
