Academic activities at Imo State University (IMSU) came to a sudden halt following the commencement of an indefinite strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), leaving students stranded and unprepared.
The industrial action caused immediate disruption across the institution, with union officials enforcing compliance during scheduled end-of-semester assessments. An affected undergraduate recounted being forced to stop an ongoing test mid-way into the session.
“We were all inside the examination hall before they came and sent us out,” the student revealed, describing how invigilators and monitoring officials instructed candidates to vacate the venue immediately.
The incident has generated significant anxiety among the student body, particularly candidates with pending examinations, as no official timeline has been provided regarding the resumption of lectures and academic assessments.
