Reports confirm that the restricted account is primarily utilized for the payment of civil servants' salaries across the state.
The action came shortly after Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke publicly raised alarms regarding alleged schemes by the anti-graft agency to freeze official state accounts and target key government functionaries ahead of the election.
In an official statement released on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, the state government described the action as a deliberate attempt to paralyze administrative activities.
Governor Adeleke maintained that the EFCC freezes Osun state account without any statutory mandate or legal justification. An insider source confirmed the restriction, noting that the governor plans to address the press regarding further developments, while the EFCC has yet to issue an official response.
