Nigerian billionaire investor and philanthropist Tony Elumelu has opened up about his journey to success, stating that luck played a significant role in helping him achieve wealth and prominence.

The Chairman of Heirs Holdings and founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation made the remarks during an interview with popular YouTuber Korty EO, where he reflected on the factors that contributed to his accomplishments.

Speaking candidly, Elumelu explained that success is not always determined solely by intelligence, strength, or hard work.

According to him, fortune can sometimes influence outcomes in ways that people may not fully appreciate. The businessman acknowledged that he worked diligently throughout his career and remained committed to his goals.

However, he emphasized that luck was also an important factor in his rise to becoming one of Africa’s most respected entrepreneurs. “I am here because of luck.

At times, you don’t become successful because you are the smartest, strongest or most energetic.

Sometimes, luck plays a role, and I am a product of luck,” Elumelu said. Despite crediting luck for part of his success, the billionaire stressed the importance of perseverance, consistency, and resilience.

He encouraged young entrepreneurs and professionals not to give up when faced with challenges, noting that obstacles are a normal part of the journey toward achieving success.

Elumelu explained that maintaining focus and a strong work ethic helped him overcome difficulties and build a successful career in business and finance.
