Former England captain David Beckham has officially become Britain’s first billionaire sportsman after he and his wife, Victoria Beckham, recorded a massive increase in wealth, according to the latest Sunday Times Rich List.

Football icon David Beckham has made history after becoming Britain’s first billionaire sportsman, according to the latest Sunday Times Rich List. The report revealed that Beckham and his wife, fashion entrepreneur Victoria Beckham, now have a combined fortune estimated at £1.185 billion.

The figure marks a huge rise from the estimated £500 million net worth previously attributed to the celebrity couple in the 2025 edition of the publication. The achievement places David Beckham among the wealthiest figures in global sports and entertainment.

The former Manchester United and England star ranked second on the list of richest sports personalities, behind the family of former Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone, whose fortune was estimated at £2 billion.

Much of David Beckham’s growing fortune comes from his successful business ventures and endorsement deals. He remains a co-owner of Inter Miami, currently regarded as one of Major League Soccer’s most valuable clubs, with an estimated valuation of more than £1 billion.

Beyond football, Beckham has continued to earn heavily through endorsement partnerships with major international brands including Adidas and Hugo Boss. Victoria Beckham has also played a major role in the couple’s financial success through her globally recognized fashion brand.

The former Spice Girls star successfully transitioned from music into fashion, building a luxury label that has expanded significantly in recent years. The Sunday Times Rich List also highlighted other wealthy figures in sports, including promoters Barry and Eddie Hearn, whose combined fortune crossed the £1 billion mark through Matchroom Sport’s success in boxing, darts and snooker promotions.

British boxer Anthony Joshua ranked among the top sports earners with an estimated wealth of £240 million, while Tyson Fury followed closely behind. Formula One legend Lewis Hamilton was also listed among Britain’s richest athletes with an estimated fortune of £435 million.

Golf star Rory McIlroy, football captain Harry Kane and tennis icon Andy Murray also featured prominently on the list. David Beckham’s billionaire milestone further cements his reputation as one of the most successful athletes turned global business personalities in modern sports history.
