The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to commence a nationwide voter revalidation exercise aimed at updating and securing Nigeria’s voter register.

The exercise is scheduled to begin on April 13, 2026.

According to INEC, the exercise targets Nigerians who registered to vote between 2011 and 2024.

The commission clarified that:

This is not a new voter registration, It is a confirmation and verification process and the goal is to clean up and secure voter records.

Eligible voters can take part in the INEC voter revalidation exercise through two options:

1. Online:
Visit the official portal:
https://cvr.inecnigeria.org

2. Physical Centres:
Any INEC-designated centre nationwide
Time: 9 AM – 3 PM
Available including weekends

INEC cautioned that failure to complete the revalidation process may lead to:

Missing names on the voter register and Loss of eligibility to vote during elections

The commission urged Nigerians to act early and avoid last-minute issues.

The INEC voter revalidation exercise is part of efforts to:

Ensure credible elections, Eliminate duplicate or outdated records and Protect the integrity of citizens’ votes.

With elections always approaching, maintaining an accurate voter register remains critical to Nigeria’s democratic process.
