Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has fired a heavy broadside at the current administration, as Atiku slams Tinubu government officials over a reported plan to revoke the operating license of the Rainbow Event Centre. The venue was set to host the African Democratic Congress (ADC) national convention on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. Atiku described the move as a “shameful and cowardly abuse of public office,” signaling a deepening rift between the presidency and the emerging opposition coalition.

In a strongly worded statement released on Monday, the former PDP presidential candidate accused the government of using state power to intimidate private business owners. According to Atiku, the Rainbow Event Centre is being threatened with the loss of its license simply for providing a platform to a lawfully registered opposition party.

Atiku maintained that the ADC had fulfilled all financial and legal obligations for the venue. He argued that the attempt to stifle the gathering is the "naked conduct of a regime that has lost the argument" and has nothing left but the "boot" of suppression.

The veteran politician suggested that the administration's discomfort stems from the rapid growth of the opposition. As Atiku slams Tinubu government tactics, he highlighted that these actions are part of a broader pattern of "petty, vindictive acts" designed to strangle democracy through the incremental suppression of free assembly.

“Our only offence is that we are organising, we are growing, and we are preparing to retire this failed government at the ballot box in 2027,” Atiku declared.

Calling on the international community to take note of the "creeping tyranny," Atiku vowed that the opposition would not be silenced. He insisted that despite the pressure on the venue owners, the convention would still hold as scheduled.

By the time Atiku slams Tinubu government policies in this latest outburst, it has become clear that the road to the 2027 elections will be paved with intense legal and political battles. Atiku concluded his statement on a defiant note, asserting that the ADC will rise and continue its mission to offer Nigerians an alternative leadership.
