Atlético Madrid Complete Signing of Ademola Lookman on Four-Year Deal from Atalanta

Atlético Madrid have officially completed the signing of Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman from Italian side Atalanta, with the attacker putting pen to paper on a four-year contract that will keep him at the club until June 30, 2030.



The Spanish giants confirmed the transfer in a statement published on their official website on Monday, describing Lookman as one of Europe’s most decisive attackers following his impressive spell in Serie A.

The 28-year-old enjoyed a remarkable resurgence at Atalanta, where his pace, creativity, and eye for goal made him a key figure in the club’s domestic and European campaigns. His performances in Bergamo caught the attention of several top European clubs, with Atlético Madrid ultimately winning the race for his signature.

Announcing the deal, the La Liga side stated:
“Atlético de Madrid and Atalanta have reached an agreement for the transfer of Ademola Lookman, who has signed with our club until 30 June 2030.”

The club also revealed that Lookman successfully completed his medical examination at the Vithas-Invictum High-Performance Sports Medicine Centre, located at Arturo Soria University Hospital in Madrid.

Following the medical, the Nigerian international proceeded to Atlético’s headquarters at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, where he was warmly received by Chief Executive Officer Miguel Ángel Gil. The forward then finalized his contract, officially becoming a red-and-white player.

“Welcome, Lookman!” the club added in its announcement.

Lookman’s arrival is expected to add attacking depth and versatility to Diego Simeone’s squad ahead of the upcoming season, as Atlético aim to challenge strongly in both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.
