Jose Peseiro, the coach of Nigeria's Super Eagles, found himself in a heated exchange with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical Committee, demanding payment of outstanding allowances instead of criticism regarding his coaching abilities.

The altercation unfolded when NFF's Technical Committee Chairman, Shariff Ahlan, suggested that the Eagles' struggles were due to Peseiro's perceived shortcomings.

Despite securing qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations, Peseiro's team faced criticism following underwhelming performances in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Nigeria trails behind Rwanda and South Africa after drawing matches against Lesotho and Zimbabwe. Peseiro's tenure saw mixed results with six wins, six losses, and a total of 31 goals scored and 21 conceded in 15 games.

Amid mounting pressure, Sports Minister John Enoh summoned Peseiro over the team's poor showing in the World Cup qualifiers.

Enoh emphasized the need for a careful decision-making process, acknowledging the emotional aspects involved while expressing concern about the team's performance.

The controversy surrounding Peseiro's coaching abilities and the team's results has ignited discussions about the future of the Super Eagles and the considerations involved in making critical decisions.
