Olutimain Ilenre has explained the reasons behind his decision to burn his original certificates, which included his Bachelor of Arts, secondary school certificate, NYSC certificate, and JAMB certificate.
In a video shared on social media, Ilenre, a graduate in History and International Studies, cited the lack of job opportunities in Nigeria as the primary reason for this drastic step.
He expressed frustration that the current situation in the country has made his certificates worthless, even when traveling abroad. Ilenre realized that over the past 13 years, none of the jobs he had taken required his certificates, leading him to advise people to focus on learning practical skills and trades in the current Nigerian reality.
Ilenre emphasized the importance of empowering children to learn handiwork and trades, as he shared his personal experience of not finding employment opportunities despite completing his education in 2010 and NYSC in 2010/2011.
