Swift Burial of Mohbad: Father Explains Yoruba Cultural Traditions

Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer Mohbad, has explained the swift burial of his son just 24 hours after his death on September 12. 

According to him, Yoruba culture doesn't permit keeping the corpse of a young person when both parents are alive.

If Mohbad had been older, the option of storing the body in a mortuary might have been considered. The land where Mohbad was buried belonged to him, and he had given it to his father to build a church.

Joseph Aloba emphasized that the decision to bury him quickly was in accordance with Yoruba customs.

Recall that the late Nigerian artist MohBad, whose real name is Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, sadly passed away at the age of 27.

The former Marlian Records signee's death was confirmed on social media, although details about the cause are still under investigation.
